With the holiday season coming up it makes you think about the past holidays and the fun times spent with friends and family. I love this time of the year for that reason, plus I no longer live near my family so sending presents and remembering Christmas from years past is wonderful. Last year I sent out about 20 presents across the country. I’m sure the same thing is going to happen this year only I am going to purchase gifts online and have them sent directly. That way it will save me a lot of time and expense. I found a website that will send roasted nuts for free (2 day shipping) with a card attached. How great is that all the work is done.
The best part about this website nut gifts allows you to customize the gift. They are not all done and prepackaged for you. I am so excited to be sending these home to my parents. One tradition that we have held throughout the years is playing cards. At the card table we always have peanuts and alcohol. I don’t know why it is just what we do. I know how happy my parents are going to be when they open up their gift of roasted nuts just in time for the big card game. What a great Christmas this is going to be.
I wonder what it is like to be laid off. The feeling must be similar to being fired. Although hopefully you leave on good terms instead of bad ones. Yesterday at my job they began to lay people off. It is going to happen for the next couple of days as well. I didn’t think our company was struggling, but sometimes you can’t see everything that is going on.
One person that I work with that got laid off has been with the company for 13 years. I wonder if his salary was too high and we couldn’t afford to keep him any longer. I have never been real business minded but I’m assuming that is what happened. Anyhow I know his salary well exceeded $150,000 per year. What happens now? How do some people manage to get by with an unexpected situation like that?
