Old CDs

There are 3 bookcases in my living room filled with my CD collection. They line an entire wall with nothing but these bookcases.

I have been buying CDs since the 1980s and spend anywhere from $14 to $20 on each one. Now they are only worth $2 a piece. Not exactly a smart money investment.

But I didn’t mind investing in the music itself. At least the artists and the songwriters got some money from me.

Welcome 2012

Hard to believe that today is the first day of another year. Wow! Last year was so busy and filled with so many historic events. There were crazy weather happenings, a royal wedding, sports leagues going on strike and all kinds of political stories. I am a little relieved that 2011 is over and gone. I hope 2012 is kind to us all and that we see many good things coming our way.

LED Flashlights

Picked up some flashlights today for stocking stuffers and was really amazed at how bright the LED flashlights can be. I had one with me tonight while walking the dogs and I could see across both my yard and my next door neighbor’s yard with this one little flashlight. They are not all that expensive. I think I’ll go back to the store in the morning and buy a few more to keep on hand.

End of Year Charity Donations

A lot of people wait until the end of the year to decide how much they will donate to charities. Sometimes it depends upon the amount of the annual bonus check. Sometimes it depends on how much money they end up spending on Christmas gifts.

I’m hoping to make a generous contribution to an animal rescue organization. These are the people who rescue dogs from puppy mills and find proper homes for the animals. I saw them in action this summer and was very much impressed.

My heart goes out to animals, especially dogs, and hope that some day in the future there will no longer be a need for animal rescue groups because people will be more responsible with their pets, they will have them spayed and neutered, and will not allow them to reproduce for the sake of selling them from puppy mills.

No Politics Here

This blog is about me and my thoughts, but I don’t want to get into politics here. I don’t mind talking about it at the bar or in the locker room at the gym. But I don’t think it is a good idea to talk about it online or at work. So, please respect that and don’t try to bait me with questions.
