It still amazes me to this day that I can discover new things to do that I never knew existed.  For example I found out that the National Aquarium in DC is located right inside the Federal Department of Commerce Building.  I had no idea and I love aquariums!

The discovery came because I have relatives in town and we are searching for activities to do.  Also I found out that there are two small  museums located close to where I live.  There again, I had no idea.

I am so excited to get out and discover these places and hopefully find more along the way.

Lately I’ve gone back and read over some of the blogs I have written.  I noticed one thing in particular and that is that they sound a little negative.  I think part of the reason is that I am obsessed with the news.  It’s the first thing I put on when I get home from work and it’s the first thing I look at on the computer.  CNN has become my obsession.  Which isn’t that bad considering it’s good to know what is going on in the world.  But now it is time for a change.  I am going to make a conscious effort to be more positive and upbeat in my blogs.  No more horror stories about the Craigslist killer or anything of the like.  We’ll see how far it goes and how many funny, positive blogs I can write before going back to my obsession with CNN.

Okay I understand that it is the beginning of May which usually reminds us of the beginning of Summer.  Not to mention the end of the school year.  So why is it so cold out still!  I am still wearing my heavy winter coat to work.  I know exactly what you are thinking- global warming.  Well it seems a little weird to me to have the temperatures in the 40′s during May and in the 70′s during November.  Does global warming mean pretty soon we are going to be celebrating Christmas in our bathing suits on our decks and patios??  Does it mean we will never again see a white Christmas?  This global warming stuff is a little too strange for me.  That’s all I have to say have a nice day and stay warm if you can.

The new problem that has hit the news is the flu.  Not only is this a new flu but it is one that has already killed a number of people.  The world seems to have gone crazy since the news broke about the swine flu.  People have been shown wearing masks around, avoiding shaking hands and physical contact, and taking precautions when it comes to flying or traveling to other countries.  The outbreak seems to have occurred in Mexico and has now traveled across the world.  It seems weird to have such an epidemic happen in such a short period of time.  The good news is it seems to have slown down in the rate at which it is effecting people.  We’ll see as the days go by as to how many people this flu will actually hit.

This has been a strange month for weather.  It has rained a lot which is normal for the month of April, but the changes in the temperature are so unusual.  It has been extremely cold for this time of the year. I was still wearing my winter coat up through the first two weeks of the month.  Then all of a sudden the weather was beautiful.  It was in the high 80′s yesterday.  Unfortunately, today we woke up to rain and of course cooler temperatures along with it.  The temperature has dropped 30 degrees from yesterday.  Hopefully over the next week or so warm weather will be here to stay.  At least for a few months.
